GYROTONIC EXERCISE FOR SENIORS®

GYROTONIC EXERCISE IN THE GOLDEN YEARS

The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® was conceived by Juliu Horvath using key principles of gymnastics, swimming, ballet, and yoga through which major muscle groups are worked in an integrated manner.

This System is supported by exercise equipment, specifically designed around the human body to allow total freedom in movement, no restriction to speed or versatility, and enhances coordination, strength and flexibility.

As a practitioner of GYROTONIC® for 10 years I have seen the benefits of this exercise system for Senior Citizens. The muscles in our body, contributes to balance and bone strength, without it our mobility and independence becomes compromised.

THE GYROTONIC PULLEY TOWER® is a wooden structure that has been designed around the body. It has a Tower with weights and pulleys that uses gentle co-centric and eccentric movements. These movements with the Pulley Tower improves muscle strength and flexibility, a unique way of exercising that is gentle on your body.

The Handle Unit of the Pulley Tower can be adjusted to the clients needs. A client can easily sit on the handle unit and move the handles in a swimming type of motion. By doing this movement the client works the spine in a forward and backwards motion, we refer to in  GYROTONIC® as an Arch and Curl.  These type of movements combined with spiraling forwards and backwards gives the spine its flexibility and mobility as well as stretching the muscles along the spine. These movements also improve back pain.

GYROTONIC® movements teach your body to be upright and to move freely without pain. This is a functional movement that can be applied to everyday life, for example, reaching for something on the top shelf of the supermarket or bending down to get tie your shoe laces.

GYROTONIC® exercise many elderly clients cognitive function improve after a few weeks of exercise, the brain neurons are stimulated and in some cases memory improves.

Also, as you get older, you need to start thinking about how you are moving. When you were young, and doing jumping forms of exercise , you were not thinking of what exercise you can do when you are older. .? This method is gentle on your body and it’s never too late to start!

In today’s modern world of technology, our posture is one of the most important things. Bad posture can be a result of ageing and lack of movement. In GYROTONIC® we focus a lot on posture. Many elderly clients feel the benefits within a few short sessions. GYROTONIC® is definitely physically and mentally anti ageing!

Many retired people have the benefit of a personal trainer but after that hour of exercise the movements are not integrated into everyday lifestyle. GYROTONIC® movements teach your body to be upright and to move freely without pain. Many clients come to me after trying other movement methods that were not working for them, they try GYROTONIC® and fall in love with the movement. Most of my clients have been with me for 10 years as they just love the the benefits of how they feel inside of their bodies.
